Paradise Potted Plant

How often should I water a recently planted Bird of Paradise?
I recently purchased and replanted a Bird of Paradise plant. I have it in a large pot with soil that seems to drain well. It receives sun in the morning and shade from about 3 pm. It was in full sun, but the leaves started to look a bit yellow on the edges, so I moved it to this new position. It started looking better over the next few days, but now it seems like it's getting more yellow. I have been watering it every 3 days or so. I have read that overwatering can be bad. Am I overwatering it?
Transplant Shock - Will that go away with time? Do I need to water it more because of this?
It's got transplant shock. Also, do yourself a favour and drill some holes in a piece of PVC pipe, and put it in the pot down close to the roots. You can feed it better that way, and when it fills the pot up, you'll be able to water it better. Once Transplanted they won't bloom for three to five years. Get some ,"Quick Start" and pour some in. It prevents transplant shock. Also I hope you added some sand and vermiculite to the soil before you planted it. We water ours every couple of days in the summer and about once a week in the winter.
